Introduction

This library is a collection of common code used in various GSM related sub-projects inside the Osmocom family of projects. It includes A5/1 and A5/2 ciphers, COMP128v1, a LAPDm implementation, a GSM TLV parser, SMS utility routines as well as protocol definitions for a series of protocols:

  • Um L2 (04.06)
  • Um L3 (04.08)
  • A-bis RSL (08.58)
  • A-bis OML (08.59, 12.21)
  • A (08.08)

Please note that C language projects inside Osmocom are typically single-threaded event-loop state machine designs. As such, routines in libosmogsm are not thread-safe. If you must use them in a multi-threaded context, you have to add your own locking.

libosmogsm is developed as part of the Osmocom (Open Source Mobile Communications) project, a community-based, collaborative development project to create Free and Open Source implementations of mobile communications systems. For more information about Osmocom, please see https://osmocom.org/
